Huyoufang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Huyoufang, 3 km south of Dayangshan (Mt.), southern Gushi County, Henan. It was named by the No. 106 Geological Party of the Henan Bureau of Coalfield Geology in 1959.
Lithology and Thickness
Sandstone and Claystone. Lower part is composed of varicolored conglomerate, yellow and gray-black slates, intercalated with calcareous feldspar-bearing quartzose sandstone. Upper part, of gray-black mica-bearing sandstone interbedded with slate, and intercalated with calcareous claystone and thin-bedded limestone lenses. The thickness varies greatly from 426 m to over 2092 m.

Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Upper Carboniferous Miaochong Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Yangxiaozhuang Fm
Regional extent
Distributed at southern Gushi and northwestern Shangcheng, roughly corresponding to the Benxi Fm in North China

Fossils
Yields 12 species of 10 genera of fossil Plants, e.g. Neuropteris gigantea; bivalves Mrasiella cf. magniforma, Palaeanodonta shangchengensis, etc., and with Conchostracan Protomonocarina sp. at Shangcheng.
